DAVE BLOOM: What can I say about my good friend Dave Bloom? Fish scientist, bug master, deranged steelheader, walking encyclopedia of angling knowledge, old school idealist; yea, he's definitely a throwback to a fishing era minus sticker covered rigs, use of the words 'bro' or 'bra' or 'sick,' and internet bloggers who do a lot of wishing but not much fishing. Having fished pretty much everywhere in the western hemisphere, Dave has applied his knowledge of trout habitat, river entomology, and how and why trout eat, to each of his patterns. His flies are religion on his native Missouri River. Whether nymphing the simplicity of his Weight Fly and Tung Dart or feeding risers with his anatomically perfect Bloom's Caddis, Missouri River guides and outfitters alike ritualistically fill their boxes with 'Bloom's crack' to ensure themselves daily success. I should know because I am one of those guilty of emptying his bins.
