VINCE WILCOX: Born with a debilitating hole in between the chambers of his heart, Vince Wilcox has survived two instances of open-heart surgery. Raised in the Adirondack mountain town of Saranac Lake, Wilcox moved to Colorado in 1995 and was soon fully immersed in the state's bounty of hiking, skiing, and fishing opportunities. Building on his obsession with tying flies, Wilcox started Wiley's Flies in 2003 and became an Idylwilde Signature Tier in 2004. He moved back to the Adirondacks in 2007. His ability to absorb what he sees in and on the water and translate it into fly patterns that are truly unique and able to produce under the most adverse conditions is uncanny. Wilcox is the "real deal" and as talented of a fly tier as he his, Wilcox's skill on the water supersedes those at the bench.
