BILL MARTS: is the kind of guy who sits in the background silent while flyfishers toss philosophy and bravado. He listens, observant, and when he speaks, it's always worth the wait. Wisdom, knowledge, experience - whatever you want to call it - he's got it, and it goes into every fly he designs. A native of Washington's hallowed steelhead country, and a studious world traveler now working out of The Fly Shop in Redding, California, Bill's patterns are inspired by a drifting, studious wanderlust. His designs represent an amalgam the world's flyfishing waters and cultures. Form, style and beauty, while foremost in his work, follow function. His tarpon flies pop, squiggle and dart, his carp flies are go-tos for a passionate subculture, and his steelhead flies, like his personality, swing true and sparkle (just enough).
